I have to admit that one of my obsession is Chanel. I just love everything Chanel! Simple, classic, and oh so chic! So it’s not surprising that I am happy to adopt anything from the fashion house. Introducing Rouge Coco, a collection of 30 lipsticks inspired by the iconic Gabriel Chanel.
The mastermind behind the collection, Peter Philips, has been referred to as “the most powerful man in makeup”. As the recently appointed global creative director of Chanel Makeup, Philip’s first challenge was to create a collection that would keep Chanel edgy and modern while keeping the values of the luxury brand and the quality of it’s products. The result is Rouge Coco, a collection of satiny, hydrating lipsticks that had one goal – to (re)introduce the feminine luxury of applying lipstick.
“Women seem to have forgotten how to apply lipstick,” says Philip. “We have a whole generation of lip-gloss girls. Now, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with lip gloss, but there’s something so feminine about the act of applying lipstick. i want to make lipstick as easy to apply as lip gloss, and for a long-lasting formula to feel comfortable on the lips.”
Although I haven’t tried the lipsticks yet, they are definitely on my list of must-haves. The shade are beautiful, bright and, come on, it’s Chanel! I also think that Philip’s point of view on women and lipstick is super sexy. “The gesture [of applying lipstick] is part of being a woman – it’s a beautiful thing.”
Have you tried Chanel’s Rouge Coco collection? What do you think?
