This weekend was all about family, food and appreciation. I spent this weekend in Toronto at my boyfriend’s sister’s place, and although it’s a long drive from Montreal, it’s all worth it once we get there! The recipe for a fantastic weekend is as simple as great food and even greater company! As usual, my sister-in-law cooked up a storm – lasagna, turkey, stuffing, potatoes, veggies, fish cakes and of course a cheese cake (among all the other desserts).
I was lucky enough to come home with a few party favours – mainly preserves that she had prepared. Spaghetti sauce, roasted red peppers, peaches, tomatoes and raspberry jam.
I even scored a few of my absolute favourite dessert, red velvet cupcakes! I’ve been trying to not eat them in one sitting since I got home. I am so strong!
A perfect weekend is never complete without a little shopping. I made a trip to Home Sense and scored these cute salt and pepper shakers. Call me crazy but I adore these!
One thing about a long drive, you have a lot of time to think… a lot! And it being Thanksgiving, you can’t help but think about all the things around you to be thankful for. So here are a few of the things that I am most thankful for:
The loving people that surround me – my mom, my brother, my boyfriend, and extended family (who have made me feel incredibly welcome and like family since the very first day).
The moments that make me realize that things are never as bad as they seem – we sometimes get upset at the most petty things knowing that a week later they won’t matter.
My closest friends – those that have been there for me through thick and thin (you know who you are! 😉 )
And of course all you who continue to read my blog – your support means the world to me! xoxo
Thanks to everyone who made this weekend beautiful!
