In the category of simple pleasures is apple sauce. So sweet, cinnamony, warm… so yummy, especially on these cool autumn days we’ve been having! My friend Janey brought me a bag of apples the other day and I had been racking my brain to figure out something yummy and different to make with them. Apple cake? Already made that. Apple muffins? Been there, done that. Apple chips? Made them and they sucked. Then I realized that thinking outside the box is as simple as going back to basics. I started with this recipe and tweaked it by not adding sugar. I love the taste of apples and really don’t think they need to be ruined by all that extra sugar.
Although the recipe says that you should let simmer for 35 minutes, I found it took a fraction of that time.
Sprinkled with a little homemade granola for that extra crunch, absolutely divine!
