The last time I visited my hairstylist, I walked out with more than just kick ass colour, a bounce in my curl and a swing in my step. I was also showered with loads of samples from Shu Uemura’s new collection of shampoos and conditioners. I’ve been curious about these for a while now, so I was super excited to finally have the chance to try them!
There’s been a lot of hype surrounding this collection of haircare. But does it live up to it? I tried two of the four formulas – Full Illuminating Shimmer and Muroto Volume.
First, let me just say that both these formulas smell ah-may-zing! The Full Shimmer’s fragrance includes a top note of rose of Japan along with other floral scents, and although I’m not usually a fan of rose-scented anythings, this scent was just so luxurious. And the result? My hair was super soft and definitely had an added boost of shine. And the luxurious scent lasted all day which I love. I think I may have even swung my hair in my face a few times on purpose just to smell it.
Now for the Muroto Volume Amplifying collection. Although the scent is much softer than the Full Illuminating Shimmer Collection, it is definitely appealing nonetheless. The top notes include watermelon, fruity tangerine and apple, along with peony, waterlilly and wisteria. Now I know this collection is supposed to boost volume, and it definitely gave me mucho volume, but I already have very thick hair and a lot of it. So I’m not sure I’m the best candidate for a volumizing shampoo. But I still loved this collection and would recommend trying it.However with the shampoos starting at $45 (USD) for 300 ml, I realize that it’s not in everyone’s price range. But then again, there is nothing wrong with treating ourselves (and our hair) to a little extra TLC!
