I don’t believe in modern day Mother’s Day (there, I said it). Like all other important days throughout the year, it’s has lost it’s meaning and turned into another Hallmark holiday that requires you to buy a lot of expensive things to show your mom how much you care. For the past few weeks I’ve been bombarded with newsletters and ads telling me which gifts would really show my mom how much I love her. Although I’m all for offering my mom a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers and treating her on Mother’s Day, I also believe in doing these random acts of kindness throughout the year. Plus, money cannot express what words can. 🙂
My mom is truly my best friend. She is one of the most beautiful people (inside and out) that I know. Throughout the past few years, our family has been through ups and downs, and the rock that always hold us in place is my mom. Always unruffled on the surface, never showing any signs of stress or panic. Whenever me or my brother needs something, she is the first to go out of her way to help. And although it’s part of a mother’s job to help, we sometimes don’t take the time to say “Thank you” and show her how much we really do appreciate everything she does for us. I love my mom more than anything in the world and can only hope to one day be a mom that’s as good to my kids as she has been to us.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms I know, and especially to the best mom in the world, mine.
