Father’s Day is a special day for me. Not only does it celebrate everything that is wonderful about my dad, but it reminds me of all the lessons he taught me throughout the years.
My dad left this earth 7 years ago and it still feels like just yesterday. Growing up I remember feeling like I was restricted from doing things that my other friends were doing. Today I can fully appreciate how much he cared and loved me, and I feel like I have become a better person because of it. He taught me that nothing would make me more successful than hard work and determination. And that no matter who you are and what your position in the world, no one has the right to make me feel inferior. My dad was a handyman, able to fix anything. Although the “handy gene” has gone to my brother, I still try to fix things myself whenever I can (I think my dad would be proud of my mini home improvements). We would have long talks about anything and I knew, no matter what the situation, my dad would always have the best advice. And his corny jokes were also the funniest I have ever heard.
My dad was handsome, smart, funny and… my hero. I miss him every day.
Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful father’s. <3
