Year after year, I tell myself that I won’t again. I won’t get sucked into the madness and insanity of Valentine’s Day. Yet somehow, I give in. It might be the flood of flowers everywhere, the heart-shaped chocolates, the splashes of pinks and reds or maybe just knowing their is a common feeling of love in the air.
Whatever it is, I take an extra moment to tell my family, friends and especially my beau how much they mean to me. It doesn’t take much either – taking the time to make a phone call instead of texting, or cooking someone’s favourite dish instead of going out for dinner. It’s the little things that mean so much. Besides the random acts of kindness, I gathered a few things that I feel help spread the love and create a general feeling of happiness for ourselves and those around us.
It goes without saying that flowers are always a nice touch. Whether you get them for a friend or for yourself (hey, you deserve to treat yourself, too), they instantly liven up a room and make people happy.
A scented candle is great for setting the mood. I love the Feu de Bois candle by Diptyque I got as a gift during the holidays. It has a smokey scent that my beau and I really love.
Love notes are always a cute way to let someone know how you feel and I adore the handwritten aspect of it.
A touch of red is always a chic idea, so why not dress up your phone. This Phantom Glass screen protector is made with tempered glass to protect your screen from scratches and shattering, and the red hue is so unique.
A red lip is classic! I’m loving this Strawberry shade by Arbonne. My lips love the long-wearing formula, which contains wild mango butter, aloe barbadensis leaf extract and pomegranate extract to condition and hydrate my lips.
The perfect red nail polish, Essie A-List. No matter what you are wearing, it always looks polishes and chic.
Chloé has been my signature scent for years, until I discovered my new favourite, Love Story by Chloé. The scent is so fresh and feminine, I just can’t get enough of it.
This is my absolute favourite gift from my beau. This Tiffany’s & Co. bead bracelet with a rose gold heart is so delicate and pretty.
It’s always a good time to indulge in some chocolate. These XO chocolates prove that two worlds can co-exist deliciously – the dark chocolate lovers with the milk chocolate lovers.
Remember when Carrie read a love letter to Mr. Big from her library book? That letter is in this book, along with many other timeless poems and letters that explore the universal theme of love. Classic love letters? It doesn’t get more romantic than that!
