So before I start explaining the photo above, let me set the scene. It was a hot and humid day in the city. As I’m walking down the street, I can feel myself cutting through the thick, sticky air (gross, I know). I walked through the doors of the Home Sense Fall/Winter showroom and felt a burst of the cold AC. Ahhhhhhh! While the temperature of the room wasn’t part of the set up, it might as well have been, ’cause I was there to check out the fall/winter decor inspiration hitting all Home Sense stores this month. While it felt a little weird to see Christmas trees and faux fur throws in the middle of a heat wave, it was also very exciting to know that the cozy comfort of the colder months and the holidays is fast approaching.
There are so many exciting items about to pop up in stores soon. Here I highlight some of my favourite things to spark your interest and get you excited for the upcoming season.
I’ve always been a fan of the food and kitchen items at Home Sense. They have so many unique pieces that add just the right amount of wow to your space. I’m particularly loving the gold rolling pin and the bourbon candle.
There’s no better way to add a touch of holiday glam than with silver and mirrored accents, am I right? And what is it about tartan that makes the vibrant print so damn comforting (just check out the tartan coffee cup below). In my opinion, Home Sense is also one of the best places to find great quality wrapping paper in the cutest prints. Seriously, it’s almost too gorgeous to rip.
So yes, there is a lot of glam here, but this bedroom is also a great example of the masculine merging with the feminine. Deep shades of navy in soft velvety textures are layered with crisp white sheets to create a room perfect for the couple who likes the finer things in life. I especially adore the faux fur throw and cushion. Such a simple way to introduce another texture into the mix.
I’m a sucker for packaging and anything that has a vintage vibe. Case in point, these classic gifts. When it comes to children’s gifts, I often opt for giving a gift that’s more classic and don’t involve sitting in front of a screen all day, like these dominos, a classic yoyo, wooden trucks or a table tennis game. Now that I think of it, it’s hard to tell if these games are for little kids or big ones.
I love entertaining guests, but I have one thing to confess. A big part of it has to do with gathering pieces to decorate the table. I am particularly smitten with the letters that light up (plus, they are battery operated, how cool is that?). I also love the mix of textures and material that give this table a rustic vibe. And you can’t go wrong with a classic green Christmas tress with red and gold accents.
Glam New Year
On the other side of the entertaining spectrum is a table set with frosted shades of grey and white, accented with pops of gold. Although I love the coziness of the other rooms, this is by far my favourite room. It has everything that I love – the crisp look of everything white, polka dots to add a feminine touch, gilded candles to set the mood. I especially love the different glasses, which all include a vintage print to give them that little something extra you look for during the holidays. Just gorgeous!
Pretty high tea
These elements are just too pretty not to love! Inspired by Kate Spade, there are so many ways to add a girly touch to your next tea time. Gold polka dot teacups, silver striped teapots and vintage-inspired gold forks come together to create a setting that reminds me of a very chic Alice in Wonderland.
