There’s no denying that cleansing oils are having a moment in the beauty spotlight. I have to admit that I was skeptical to throw oil on my face in the name of clean skin, but then I tried my first oil by Dermalogica and I was hooked.
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula has been around for what feels like ages. While I had heard about the amazing results of the Skin Therapy Oil when used on scars and stretch marks, I was never brave enough to try it myself (fear of wasting money and all!). I recently received a wonderful care package by Palmer’s to review the Skin Therapy Oil, as well as the latest addition to the collection, the Skin Therapy Cleansing Oil and the Skin Therapy Oil for the Face. After using the products for a few weeks, I can say that I am very happy with the results!
Before I get into the nitty gritty of the products, let me start by saying that I have combination skin, with the T-zone being a little more oily than the rest of my face. The skin on the rest of my boy is more on the dry side and I have a few stretch marks (I’m only human) and a beautiful scar from a recent baking incident on my arm (the things we do in the name of baked goods). The test for me was to see how these products would perform on these “problem areas” (I use that term loosely since I am very proud of my body and all it’s glorious flaws).
Skin Therapy Cleansing Oil: This oil cleanser is wonderful. With just a few pumps applied to dry skin, the oil dissolves makeup and lifts other yukkies that have made their way onto my skin during the day. I followed this up with my usual cleanser (like I do with any oil cleanser I’ve used in the past) and my skin feels super clean and not at all tight.
Skin Therapy Oil: The classic! This oil is considered a multi-purpose oil that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, dry damaged skin, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles. After using it for two weeks, the test was to see if the look of my stretch marks and baking scar would improve. It did! As crazy as it sounds, after using it twice a day, the look of my stretch marks have faded and my scar is looking much less noticeable. Plus, my skin is super duper soft. #doublewin
Skin Therapy Oil Face: Much like the Skin Therapy Oil, except specifically formulated for the face. The texture is much lighter thanks to its blend of 10 oils (including sweet almond oil, sesame oil, coconut oil, macadamia nut oil, apricot oil, grapeseed oil, argan oil, rosehip oil, camelina oil and sunflower oil), vitamin C and retinol. I use this mainly at night to give my skin a boost of moisture and I wake up with radiant skin. And it doesn’t feel a tad greasy on my skin.
It’s always a happy moment when you find products that do great things for your skin without costing a fortune – Palmer’s products are available in most drugstores for under $15. Each of the products mentioned above have a rosehip fragrance that is light, but may still bother those of you who are sensitive to fragrances.
