When it comes to foundation, I try to seek out the products that are the easiest to apply. This usually means that I gravitate towards compact foundation and tinted moisturizers, since they blend so effortlessly into the skin without leaving a heavy cakey look behind. I tend to stick to my favourites when it comes to makeup and skin care (hey, if it ain’t broke, right?), so I’ve never really ventured to see what else is out there in the beauty world. Then, I was contacted to try the Amore Pacific Color Control Cushion Compact and everything changed. This cushion foundation provides the perfect light to medium coverage for skin that is flawless and luminous.
The first things that strikes you with this product is the packaging. Rumor has it that the company’s founder wanted to pay homage to the ancient signature stamping system that adorned Korean scrolls. The team came up with the cushion compact, a pre-soaked sponge that holds the pigment and skin care in one formula. And although you may have seen this type of applicator before, just know that they are the leaders when it comes to it. In fact, their cushion compact have 14 patents attached to it.
The formula is amazing. It contains SPF 50 (pretty much the minimum you should be wearing) and provides light coverage that is easily buildable to give your skin that beautiful dewy finish. It also contains a bunch of wonderful ingredients your skin will love, including bamboo sap to moisturize, and Green Tea Treatment Complex to give your skin antioxidant protection and prevent irritation. It just makes your skin look even and healthy. While you can apply it with the sponge that comes with it, I like to use a buffing brush or my Beauty Blender to get a perfect application (what can I say, I can change my products, but I can’t change my tools). But I still like to keep the sponge handy for quick touchups throughout the day, which might not be necessary since it stays looking beautiful all day. The formula
There are two things that I liked a little less about this product. The first is the fragrance – it’s stronger than most other foundations I’ve used in the past. That being said, it’s not a scent that lingers. However if you are sensitive to this type of thing, you may be bothered by it. The second is the limited choice of shades – keep in mind that it is a Korean skin care brand, which may be the reason behind the small shade selection.
The Amore Pacific Color Control Cushion Compact is available at Sephora for $72 CAD. While it is higher in price than most other foundations on the market, keep in mind that it does last for quite a while and does come with a refill, which I feel justifies the cost.
Have you tried it yet? I would love to know what you think. Comment down below!
