Everyone loves a good comeback, especially when it’s as beautiful as this! Dr. Hauschka is making a major comeback in the makeup department by bringing back five of the most favoured products for Spring/Summer 2016 limited edition collection. I for one couldn’t wait to get my hands on these. While I’ve heard about the brand’s skin care line, I had no idea they also had a line of cosmetics. The concept is simple – the line of cosmetics focuses on natural shades to enhance your beauty and put the focus on the best version of yourself rather than the focus be on your makeup. Also, their products are made with moisturizing medicinal plant extracts and botanical oils that keep the skin hydrated and protected from environmental factors.
The Balancing Teint Powder combines three shades to blur flaws, even out skin tone and give your skin a flawless look. The formula includes silk which gives the powder its soft feel. Pro tip: Swirl a fluffy brush in the compact to combine all the shades, then sweep over your skin starting on the forehead, over the temples and cheeks, down to the chin.
The Eyeshadow Trio is so pretty. Housed in a beautiful rose gold care (can’t get enough of rose gold), the shades are so pretty and natural, and I love the combination of textures. There is a soft sparkling nude shade perfect to use as a base to your eye makeup or to highlight the centre of the lid or inner corner of the eyes. The shimmering rose shade is a beautiful pink, soft enough for day wear, but bright enough to give your eyes that little something extra. Finally the matte chocolate shade is a warm brown great for defining the crease. All the shadows are supers silky, give great colour payoff and are super blendable.
The Rouge Powder Duo is for anyone who loves a fresh pink blush. The compact houses two shades side-by-side which, when combined, create the perfect pink flush for my skin. It’s buildable so you can definitely up the intensity of your blush if that’s the look you’re going for. The shades can also be used alone, but I find the lighter shade too light for my skin tone (it would probably be perfect for those with fair skin). Pro tip: Apply the darkest shade under the cheekbones and blend forward, then sweep the lighter shade on the highest point of the cheekbones for a more defined look.
The Kajal Eyeliner 08 Taupe is a great shade for those days when you want a little definition to your eyes without the harshness of a black liner. Plus, taupe is one of those shades that looks great on everyone. The pencil is creamy, glides on easily and can be smokey out using the smudger on the opposite side of the pencil. It’s also worth mentioning that the formula of the pencil includes a marula and canola oil to moisturize and protect the eyes.
The Lipstick Novum 08 Maple Glow (call me a true Canadian but I love the name!) is a creamy lipstick that glides on smoothly and leaves lips feeling soft and hydrated thanks to its blend of argan oil and beeswax. The shade Maple Glow (again, love the name) is a soft berry shades that gives off that your-lips-only-better vibe. What can I say, it’s simply beautiful. Pro tip: For a subtle look, pucker your lips and dab on the lipstick. Press your lips together to gently blend and give your lips that natural look.
While I love bright and bold makeup, it’s refreshing to see a collection with so many wearable shades. The formulas are so light and soft, making application a breeze. I simply adore it! The 2016 Spring/Summer Collection hits stores February 15th. To find a store near you, click here.
