I’m a big believer that if you focus on good skincare, you really won’t need a lot of makeup. – Demi Moore
Hello dear friends! Since we’re in the throws of winter, I though it would be cool to share the products that have been doing wonders for my skin during this particularly difficult time of the year. I have combination skin, which typically means that it gets a little oilier in the summer and a little more dehydrated in the winter. Over the years (and a ton of trial and error), I’ve discovered products that have been able to keep my skin looking healthy and hydrated all winter long.
Shiseido Perfect Cleansing Oil
I’m so in love with this cleanser. While I typically splash lukewarm water on my face in the morning and skip the cleanser, on the days when I go to the gym in the morning, I will definitely be using this to revive my skin. This cleansing oil gently lifts dirt and impurities from my skin and it’s amazing at removing makeup. It doesn’t strip my skin of moisture like pretty much every other cleanser I’ve tried, something that’s particularly important during these cold winter months. My just leaves my skin glowing. I might never go back to a regular cleanser.
Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate
To add another layer of hydration I use this serum. The texture is super lightweight and the formula gives my skin new life, especially on the days when it’s looking a little more tired and dull. It’s also great to help prevent the first signs of aging.
Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Cream
I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first time this eye cream makes it’s way into one of my posts. Since the first time I tried it, I’ve been hooked. The consistency is creamy without being heavy and it just gives my eyes to wake up it needs (bye bye dark circles and puffiness!). It’s also great at preventing the first signs of aging, something I’m definitely starting to think about more.
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Mineral Water Gel
I tried this moisturizer years ago when I was working for the brand, but recently came back to it because it does a kick-ass job at keeping skin hydrated when it’s harshly cold. The gel formula is so moisturizing and comforting on the skin, without feeling heavy. It literally feels like a drink of water for your skin. Plus, the scent is so refreshing and not the least bit overpowering. Overall it leaves my skin feeling hydrated, super soft and just glowing.
Although not a skincare product per se, I just had to include this in my faves. After spending way too much on razor blades, I decided this subscription service a try (mama needs a new pair of shoes!). Harry’s won my heart with the sleek look of their razor and the story behind the brand. The razor is beautiful and you can get this one engraved with your initials which I think is a nice touch. I received this kit with the shave gel and I have to say that I’m really digging the masculine scent is leaves on my skin. There’s something so sexy about that. But the real bonus is the cost of the replacement blades which are a fraction of the typical women’s razors (even when they’re on sale). Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for a quality razor without the extra $$$.
- I typically try to drink between 2.5-3.5 litres of water each day. I used to drink much less but ever since I upped my water intake, it’s really done wonders for my skin.
- I use an SPF 30 every day no matter what. It’s the best prevention for premature skin aging in my opinion.
- I generally give my skin a good cleanse at night but only use a splash of lukewarm water in the morning. I find that this strips my skin much less during the winter.
- My secret weapon for tired eyes… eye patches! I keep mine in the fridge which really helps to soothe my eyes and banish puffiness and dark circles.
