Sweet Rocker Chic

As so my jewelry collection continues to grow… I’ve heard a lot of buzz about Stella & Dot lately. Bloggers and YouTubers have donned their pieces and made me jealous a number of times. But it wasn’t until I fell in love with this piece that I decided to place my very first order. Behold, the Renegade Cluster Bracelet.

Stella & Dot boxThe concept of Stella & Dot is great. You can place an order on the Website or become a stylist and host your own trunk shows. Not a bad idea if your looking for a side gig! The other thing that I love about them is that us gals from Canada need not worry about those pesky duty fees. No matter how they calculate them, not having to worry about surprise fees is quite a nice feeling! And finally, each piece is so affordable!

Stella & Dot boxStella & Dot Renegade Cluster BraceletStella & Dot Renegade Cluster BraceletI can say that the only downside to my order was having to deal with Purolator. I chased my order a little when they wouldn’t let my doorman sign for my package because he wasn’t me, but then let the receptionist at my work sign… even though she wasn’t me… yeah. That being said, it is in no way Stella & Dot’s fault. Overall, I am a very satisfied customer!

Have you ever ordered from Stella & Dot?

The Sartorialist + Garance

There’s noting I love more than seeing two people who are genuinely in love. The way they interact with each other, the attention they give to one another, the way they make each other laugh and the consideration that is so natural. In a world where we are plagued by constant bad news, it’s always refreshing to see! Scott Shuman  and Garance Doré are a perfect example. They are so in awe of each each other and appreciate the little things. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I can’t help but have warm fuzzies over things like this. What are the little things you do to show how much you love your sweetheart?

Sweet Lip Scrub!

I don’t know about you but there are days that you can tell it’s winter just by looking at my lips. The cold, dry air wreaks havoc on my usually pretty pout, which is how I developed my addiction to lip balms. And while I’ve always been a fan of lip scrubs, I have not been so keen on the price tag associated to these simple beauty items. Luckily, I discovered a way to make my own with ingredients most of us have in our kitchens.

Sweet Lip Scrub What you’ll need:

1 teaspoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon honey

1 teaspoon olive oil or petrolium jelly

Mix the brown sugar and honey to form a paste and scrub on your lips for a few minutes (and try to restrain yourself from eating it). You’ll want to do this over the sink because it does tend to flake off. Next rinse off with warm water and immediately swipe a little olive oil or petroleum jelly to lock in the moisture (I like to use Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment).  And voilà! Soft kissable lips are yours once again!

Rice Krispy Treats!

I’ve never met anyone who didn’t love Rice Krispy treats. They are a classic and have been a part of everyone’s childhood. The other day I picked one up from a coffee shop near my work and was so disappointed when I bit into it. What I tasted was way below my expectations. And so the hunt was on, how could I take the traditional recipe and make it even better. The answer came to me here! The subtle differences update this classic treat just enough to preserve the goodness we all know and love, yet with a little something extra!

Rice Krispy TreatsRice Krispy TreatsI made two batches of these. The first didn’t last long after I brought them over to my boyfriend’s house (I admit they are very addictive)! The next day I made a second batch and altered the recipe a little – I added a pinch more salt and browned the butter a little darker and they were even better than the first ones! Bon appétit!

Gold Hardware

I love jewelry! For a while I loved the classics – pearls, diamond studs, simple gold ring. Then my obsession for costume jewelry found me and then it was all about large cocktail rings, safari-inspired earrings, oversized necklaces. Eventually I started to invest in pieces that would last me a lifetime like my favourite silver Michael Kors oversized watch. But while my collection continues to grow and grow, I constantly find myself reaching for these pieces that have quickly become my favourites.

Seeing Red

Sales, sales, everywhere! I am proud to say that this year, I did not indulge in any boxing day shopping. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about the thrill of the deal. But I find myself neglecting parts of my wardrobe each time a new piece is added to it. So i have decided to stay out of stores and find new and stylish ways to wear my old favourites. Ok, now back to my tremendous bout of self-control during boxing day… i lied. I was doing so well, until I came across these babies! This is my first pair of red booties and they were just sitting there, the last pair… in my size! How could i say no?! Since I got them i’ve been pulling style inspiration from some of my favourite fashion blogs to find unique ways to style them!

New Years Resolutions!

I know, it’s so cliché! But I’m jumping on the new year’s resolutions bandwagon and making up a list of things that I would like to accomplish this year. To make it easier (and more realistic), I’m limiting my list to just a few things. So here we go!

Stop swearing (so much)

Lately I’ve become such a potty mouth. It used to be limited to times when I was angry or upset, but it seems to have slowly creeped in to my everyday speech. So not the lady-like image I want to portray. So I am resolving to limit the swears to extreme circumstances (realistically, saying I will stop completely would be stupid… It’s all about baby steps).

Let my confidence shine through my posture

Years sitting behind a desk in front of a computer has taken it’s toll on my once perfect posture. I always kind of knew that my posture was flawed, but I really took notice of it after I attended the launch of the Serial Indulgence jewelry collection. I appear in the launch video and that’s when it struck me… my posture sucks! So I have vowed to stand (or sit) up straight, shoulders back, head held high. Good posture exudes confidence and makes you look 10 pounds lighter… and who doesn’t need that after the holidays!

More sexy foods for a more sexy me!

One thing I’ve learned these past few weeks is that while it can take months to develop good habits, it only takes a couple of days to adopt bad ones. Case in point, my eating habits. I’ve always had good eating habits so I didn’t feel the least bit guilty when it came to indulging in yummy holiday treats. But the past few days that I have tried to eat well, I found myself battling with, well, myself. I’m still craving those sweet treats. So now’s the time to get back to fuelling up with good natural foods, lots of water and cutting out the sugar (cause I’m sweet enough already ;-) ) One chick who’s really helped me eat well and feel sexy is the one and only Stiletto Chef. Check her out, I promise you’ll love her!

Be awesome!

Something amazing happened to me last year. I discovered a part of me that had been dormant and turns out it was a pretty awesome part of me! How did it happen? By performing a life cleanse. If you take a look around you, you have a million reasons to be happy – good health, family and friends to start! If there is something making you unhappy, change it. If someone is bring you down, ditch them. Don’t sit there waiting for something to happen, make it happen. You’ll be happier and attract all kinds of good things to your life. So be awesome!  Life is too short to waste on douchebaggery.
